We are in the process of performing a “gut-rehab” for bill and doug’s home. It’s an existing two story home that was redesigned to qualify for the LEED for Homes program. Here is what Doug had to say about their experience:
“We are having a great experience working with David. We were looking for someone who was an architect and could also handle the construction aspect because we are both busy and don’t have a lot of time to deal with everything involved in a full-home renovation. David is great at taking the stress and the pressure off. He is reliable and his subs are good. He is responsive and easy to get a hold of.
We also wanted the renovation to be done in an eco-friendly way. David has the LEED accreditation and was open to finding people who would do the work as green as possible. The house will be a LEED silver home.
We have what started out as a Spanish bungalow, but as previous owners renovated it, the house became a mixture of styles. We wanted to make it contemporary. We had an idea of what we wanted and we let him show us his thoughts. It worked really well.
David has kept us close to schedule and budget. We discovered a few problems when they took the house apart, but David was still able to keep us pretty on track.

We redesigned and added a second story to Leslie and Robert’s craftsman home. Here is what Leslie had to say about their experience:
“We had a wonderful experience working with David. We remodeled and had a second story added to our 1932 craftsman. You can’t tell what is not original.
David did so much more than the drawings. He stayed involved in the process all the way through. He played a key role in terms of interacting with our general contractor.
When we had concerns, we would call David and he would communicate to the contractor. David is very approachable. We never had trouble contacting him. He cared almost as much as we did that the house turn out the way it should. It felt like more than just a job to him. When we started looking to redo the house, the market was much higher and we were dumbfounded at the cost of remodeling. David’s bid was much more reasonable than the others, but more than that, he was excited and willing to put in the time to make it turn out the right way. He integrated our vision into the design. When we were first talking to him I would have said “this is the style David likes to do,” but as I got to know him, I learned he does all sorts of styles. He wants to do whatever style with as much integrity as possible.”

“David basically built a new home for us from the ground up. We love the house and David was so great to work with, if I had the money, I would do it again! Other architects wouldn’t talk to us for less than $300 per square foot. David was willing to work within our budget. Also, he was great at synthesizing our ideas and adding his own. Sometimes we insisted on our ideas, and other times he insisted on his. David was great with colors. He showed us a palette he had in mind and came to us with samples. With the kitchen he suggested some tiles that I wasn’t too sure about, but it is one of the things that people see and love the most.”
