overview
this is a seminar series that is aimed at helping architectural candidates prepare for the oral california supplemental exam (cse). through a series of seminars and webinars, we review tips and techniques to aid the candidate in successfully preparing to take the exam. we will focus on three major strategies in preparing for the exam;
strategy #1
we will discuss the complete CAB test plan in detail and cover all of the topics contained within the plan. the CAB test plan will serve as our guide as we move through the process. this will be the foundation for strategy #2, the mock panels. students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the cab test plan as much as possible before the first class.
NOTE: students will be sent the study manual we developed (based on the CAB test plan) once we receive the registration fee and it is properly processed. This will allow you time to review and study the information before the first class.
strategy #2
mock panels (within the Seminar or Webinar), we will do lots of these. each student will have time in the “hot seat” to help them prepare for the real conditions of the exam. hearing the question and learning how to respond will be the main focus of the mock panels.
strategy #3
mock panel
this mock panel is geared towards candidates who will have taken our webinar or seminar prior to the mock panel taking place. typically, candidates sign up for this mock panel at time of registration for a seminar. candidates are expected to be fully prepared for the exam prior to attending the mock panel as the mock panels are generally scheduled 1+ week prior to the actual exam. this mock panel has proven extremely helpful to many candidats as part of the final preparations before the exam
4 hour special mock panel
this special mock panel is geared towards candidates who will NOT HAVE TAKEN our seminar or webinar prior to the mock panel. we will discuss and practice how to answer the questions orally, exam strategy, what to expect on exam day, and how best to prepare for the final week before the exam. candidates will then be put in the hot seat to answer questions and receive feedback specific to each candidate (also open to candidates who have taken our seminar or webinar as the setup is the same as the standard mock panel, but we’ll spend a little more time on exam taking techniques, which will be a review for candidates who have taken the seminar).
you will recieve a 162 page study manual based upon the 2009 CAB test plan that we developed exclusively for our seminars and webinars when you register.
if you’re not sure when your scheduled date is, you can still register and recieve our study manual which will allow you to get a jump on your studying and at the same time guarantee you a spot in your seminar/webinar of choice. it’s never too early to sign up and start studying for the exam.

so, what is a webinar?
The LIVE CSE Webinar series is an opportunity for candidates who are unable to travel to our seminar in santa monica to learn the tools needed to successfully prepare for the exam. The LIVE Webinar is a semi-private setting with a maximum of 4 participants. The structure will be a similar format to the in person seminar described above. it’s also an interactive seminar in which i’ll be speaking with candidates and presenting the test plan via a powerpoint presentation online, using our computers. attendees will be able to call into the conference via a toll number that will be provided (similar to a conference call). We will also perform mock panels in cyberspace. webcams not required but you may find them helpful.
private tutoring
private tutoring is available per the following;
private tutoring option #1 - includes our 162 page study manual and 2 hours of private tutoring via online web conferencing (you will see me) or at our office in santa monica. 2 hours will allow us to cover the study manual at an accelerated pace. date and time booked at the candidate’s leisure. the cost is $450.
private tutoring option #2 - available only to candidates who have signed up/participated in a seminar, webinar, or private tutoring option #1, via online web conferencing (you will see me) or at our office in santa monica. date and time booked at the candidate’s leisure. the cost is $100 per hour.
